DNA ring | 9K solid yellow gold
One customer bought this DNA ring together with the silver one, to wear the two in combination. In 9K solid yellow gold, it's a ring for a woman whose work runs on DNA, whether she buys it for herself or it comes from someone who knows what genetics means to her.
Who It's For
- yourself, if genetics or molecular biology is your work
- a woman who already wears the silver DNA ring and wants a second in gold
- a daughter who wears gold, for her birthday or Christmas
- a partner, for Valentine's Day or an anniversary
- a colleague in genetics, from the people she has worked with
Heather C. bought one for herself: “LOVE IT!!! I’m showing it off to all my genetics colleagues!” Theodore D. gave the silver version as a gift: “It looks cool from any angle because of the double helix shape and the way the light is reflected.”
How Scientists Copy DNA
Labs copy DNA in a tube with PCR, the polymerase chain reaction. The sample is heated to about 95°C so the two strands of the double helix come apart. As it cools, short starter pieces called primers attach on either side of the stretch to be copied. Warmed again, an enzyme builds a new partner strand from each. Each cycle roughly doubles the number of copies, so 30 cycles can turn a single molecule into about a billion in a couple of hours. That is how a trace of DNA from a cheek swab or an ancient bone can be read at all.

FAQ
Which size should I order?
The ring comes in US sizes 5 to 9, about EU 49 to 60. Measure the inside of a ring worn on the same finger and check a size chart. Between two sizes, go for the smaller: a slender band is more comfortable snug than loose. If it doesn't fit, send it back unworn within 30 days for a refund and order the right one, or write to us at support@sciencejewelry1824.shop before you order.
Is there a silver version, or a different DNA ring?
Yes. This one is 9K solid yellow gold, 375 parts gold in every 1,000, and the same DNA ring comes in sterling silver, also in US sizes 5 to 9. Choose the finish the recipient already wears. The double helix design is the same in gold and silver, and the two can be worn together. For a flat band, there is the engraved DNA ring, and there is also a crossed DNA ring, both in sterling silver.
Can she wear it every day?
Yes, with a little care. The band is slender and openwork, so take it off for the gym, gardening or anything heavy, and try not to squeeze it. Hand cream and soap can settle between the two strands. A rinse under warm water and a soft toothbrush clear them out. Dry it well and keep it apart from other jewelry so it doesn't pick up scratches.
Will it arrive in time, and what if it isn't right?
It ships free worldwide with DHL Express and arrives in 1-5 business days. We pay the import duties and taxes, so there is nothing to pay on delivery. It comes in a ready-to-gift jewelry box and festive envelope. If it isn't right, our 30-day “Love It or Return It” policy applies.
Where did the enzyme that copies DNA in labs come from?
From a hot spring in Yellowstone. In 1966 Thomas Brock and Hudson Freeze, an undergraduate, sampled the runoff of Mushroom Spring, at about 69°C, and found a bacterium living there. They named it Thermus aquaticus and placed cultures in a public collection. In 1976 Alice Chien, with David Edgar and John Trela, purified its DNA-copying enzyme, which survives heat that destroys most others. In 1988 that enzyme, Taq polymerase, made PCR practical: it lasts through cycle after cycle, so no fresh enzyme has to be added each time.
Genetics
Our genetics-inspired jewelry captures the essence of life's code in striking detail. Crafted to mirror the DNA double helix, each piece is more than an aesthetic marvel—it's a tribute to the complexity of our genetic makeup. Far from ordinary, this collection combines scientific precision with artistic flair, making each item a captivating blend of form and function. It's not just an accessory; it's a meaningful representation of the miracle that is genetics.
